I am planning to come and work in Arusha later this year and although I
do know the town I can't find any information at all on the web about
letting apartments.

Is there anyone who knows of a real estate agent(s) working from Arusha
or likely alternative?

Thx

Finding accomodation in Arusha is a nightmare - the quality is low, and if
they can tell you are a foreigner they will quadruple the fair price.
Basically when looking for accomodation here quarter your budget and tell
the agents that that is your limit.  They will show you the same places but
at a lower price - still higher than what you told them your limit was.

I seldom write and disagree with people but I have to here.  I lived
in Arusha for 12 years (sadly I had to move to Nairobi because of
work).  I lived in a five bedroom house with three bedroom staff
quarters.  There were 3 1/2 baths, a huge verandah and spacious
gardens.  Rent...  $400.00 a month.  What do you get for $400.00 a
month in most towns these days?

As to flats, Fortes is good, but because his is more into short term,
his prices are higher.

Check the notice boards at places like Mac's Pastery Shop at the Clock
Tower, the AICC and a few others.  Put an ad in the Arusha Times
classified http://www.arushatimes.co.tz/.  And stick to you budget.

People will try to get as much as possible from you, and you will try
to pay as little as possible.  That is part of life in Africa.
