For a novel I'm writing, I need to know 1995 air fares (within 10%)
domestic USA and international. United AL was helpful when I began;
but something's changed in the intervening years, and though I write
repeatedly to them and they send a form saying they will reply, they
don't. I'll be grateful for direction to any database. Please reply by
email.

SFO to LAX $25.
SFO to LHR $4-600 R/T

Thanks. I didn't make myself clear. I need a moderately comprehensive
listing, so as to work on the costs for a touring performer who must
fly first-class.

Maybe you can dig something out of this

Your tax dollars at work.

I paid £375  for an open-jaw in late August/September 1995. Outward
NCL-LHR-SFO and return SEA-AMS-NCL.

Go over to www.flyertalk.com and ask there.  You may find someone who can
help you, particularly because airline personnel participate.

This is tough! United Air Lines, which was v helpful when I began the
novel, is now protected by an impermeable stone wall. No media-
relations department, no number for exec. offices available, no
nothing. (I've tried!) Some other airlines ditto, and the very few
that allow mere peons to contact them, do not respond. Travel agents
don't have data back that far, or don't remember about specific years.
Newspaper archives show old ads, but those are mainly coach fares,
where I need business- and first-class. OK, I give up.

I suspect that a few hours (and subscribing - free - to www.flyertalk.com
will get you more than you've bargained for, with plenty of the posters
regular domestic and international travelers even before the 90s.  Shucks, I
recall DAL to WAS back about 1952 in a DC-3 (with stops), and my second trip
to Europe (1962) was in the back of a C-130 (unpressurized), only a row of
paratroop seats down one side, with a stop in Thule (plus Keyflavik &
Prestwick) on the way to Rhine Main  - Somebody will not only have prices
but the original tickets, saving them in case some airline tries to cheat'em
out of FF miles.

This was recommended the last time he gave up.

Gee, Ollie,

So many messages trigger  memories of your adventure filled life.

I swear, from reading many of your past messages,  that you have had
more scary adventures than Indiana Jones.

When you die, your survivors should reserve about 20 pages to cover
your obit in the newspapers.

No, I simply repeat the same events for different audiences as posters come
and go.  My actual obit will likely not exceeding facing full pages (with 8
pt single space).

Only two pages? How modest.

After you pass on, please have your heirs send a message to rta
containing the obit.

It should make fascinating reading.

How many times have you said you give up?
I thought you gave up a week or two ago

That recommended Web site requires personal information about me which
is irrelevant and which I wouldn't give even if relevant. I'm trying
to *get* information, not give it out. Thanks to all anyway.

How nice of you not to even think about giving false information to a
website.
