Kanye Gets High ... On a Budget
Posted Apr 24th 2008 2:00PM by TMZ Staff

TMZ spies spotted Kanye West and Pharrell at LAX airport this morning
... on a Southwest flight to Tucson, Ariz.. Ding -- you are now free
to lose your street cred!

Was first class booked on EVERY OTHER AIRLINE?!?!? Or, for that
matter, a sweet private jet? Is that really the best Kanye's travel
site could do?

Let's hope they were at least in Group A.

Kanye's mom was stupid and vain, yo! Bored rich Black bitch should
have listened to the other previous doctors who refused her an
unnecessary plastic surgery procedure.  So avoidable.

Tucson's loss is L.A.s gain.

This is the kind of 'hip-hop news' I really hate.

Now all you gotta do is market that as newsworthy
and you're in the news business.

How many airlines do you think fly nonstop from LAX to Tucson?

I used to fly Southwest all the time and they didn't assign seats.  They
just boarded people in groups of 30, first come, first served.  The earlier
you boarded the better your seat and the last borders could always count on
being stuck in the middle.  Well they used to announce that handicapped
folks, women with little kids and "any one else who needs some extra time"
could board first.  So as soon as the truly handicapped and women with
little kids boarded, you'd see  the "lame and crippled brigade" come limping
forward.  I must admit there were some truly Oscar worthy performances.  But
then a mid-air miracle would occur!  The plane landed and these formerly
afflicted passengers were suddenly and completely healed!  They'd jump up
and literally sprint off the plane.  I'll tell you boys, it was an inspiring
sight to be sure!

I fly Southwest all the time. The first come, first served, no assigned
seating policy is still in place. The earlier you get your boarding pass,
the better group you board with (i.e. always best to print your boarding
pass on line).

One thing they have changed over the last 6 months is that you are now
given a number in addition to your group, so when group A is boarding,
you line up in the number given. This was a good change, as it avoided
the dreaded "gate camping", where folks would get there two hours early
and stand in the "A" chute so they could be first on the plane.

Anywho, Irish is very right. I've seen some real performances over the
last year of travelling. Or, whole families of 6 or more boarding early,
because they've also got granny with in the wheelchair.

And don't get me started on how many times I've had to sit next to the
morbidly obese person, their bulk hefting into my seat, cutting the
circulation off in my legs...geesh.

not quite true - If you fly business select - you get to board 1st

the ticket cost about $20 more each way but has several other advantages
like no charge for changes and is fully refundable

I believe "business select" is an option Southwest later added.

As Irish pointed out, Business Select is pretty new. And you don't
necessarily get to board first. You just get in the "A" boarding
group, which consists of 60 people, so you could still be getting
on the plane after nearly half the other passengers (if the flight
is full and you've got A-60). That said, I've been flying so much,
I'm on the "A" list, so I already get in the "A" group. I go ahead
and get the business select ticket anyway (extra points towards an
extra free ticket, free drink, and the client is getting stuck with
the bill), and I've found that I can usually get A1, A2 or A3, so
it's worth it to me for the extra $20.

very seldom will you be worse than 4th to board after any of the pre
boarding

I recently flew SW for the 1st time since the $20 tickets between Dallas
- San Antonio - Houston.  It was all the cities they flew and the price
was not regulated since they did not fly out side the state.  This was
in the days of regulated air lines.  In those days, I took more flights
than many pilots and travel was much easier than today - I dont know how
they do it today.
