Had a flight cancelled d/t weather a few weeks ago. Our trip insurance
would really like to pay off for a few things, but we need something
from AA saying that yes indeed our flight was cancelled and this is the
reason.
We have tried the check in when we got on our rescheduled flight the
next day. They said go through the customer service tab on the website.
Nothing for over a week, including an indication that they got the
e-mail and were working on it.
    Any other suggestions?

Thanks, we'll try it. Hidden in plain sight (g).

GET RID of the binary please.

Thanks

Go to the airport and see if they can print out a report for you
there.

Doesn't your insurer have access to this kind of information?
The AA Cargo site gives cancellation information.
I haven't looked there, but people on FlyerTalk have mentioned it.
Send another email or call.

While they very well might, if the agreement says that the insured must
supply the documentation, what incentive does the insurer have to make
it easier?

Not to make it easier, but to verify the cause. Documents can be faked

Then you risk going to the slammer for insurance fraud.

And they can be "faked" from both sides too.  Hertz tried to tap me for
$900.00 in damage, until I proved that their documents had been altered.
They dropped the issue.  I wanted to bust them, but my company said to just
let it go.

Sure.  So again, why would the insurer provide contact information for
AA to the insured?

I'm not saying that the insurer doesn't have the information, just that
they don't have an incentive to be helpful in this area.

Actually, probably not.  They try to avoid paying claims and one way
of doing that is requiring something like this and hoping that it
can't/won't be provided.
