I'm surprised there are no protests about Xinjiang. The region is much
more different fromm China than Tibet: different race, completely
different language, different religion. The Tibetan language belongs to
the same language group as Chinese (Sino-Tibetan), racially Tibetans are
similar to Chinese and there is a lot of Buddhism in China as well. By
contrast Uighurs (the locals of Xinjiang) are Caucasians, speak a Turkic
language and are Muslims.

Ah! Those blood thirsty Han Chinese! The Communist ones are the worst! They
are merely a rebellious sect of the Republic of China.

Among the Han Chinese there's good and bad as in any people or race. The
problem ist not the people, but their leaders.

> The Communist ones are the worst...

The leaders in China call themselves Communist, but most of them are not.
They are capitalist and imperialist.

Western media have not payed much attention to the NW provinces of China, I
think, because there is no well-known leader like the Dalai Lama.
And protests in the NW tend to be more local as the people do not feel
united as Tibetans do.

Language groups are not the matter as people don't know much about it.

Religion is a problem as Chinese authorities fight against any organization
that is not under their control.
The Dalai Lama is not under the rule of the Chinese goverment. So his
followers are persecuted.
(Catholic Christians in China who are loyal to the Pope in Rome are
persecuted, too.)

Race might become a big problem if authorities treat races unequal. People
will learn to hate each other even if racial differences are tiny.
