For some people there is a debate over which to choose a Bluetooth gps
receiver or a compact flash gps receiver.

Comparison is rather artificial if not downright misleading. A receiver can
have both a flash card slot (Compact flash cards are pretty outdated
anyways). Dedicated navigators nowadays typically have instant access to
[real time] databases whether by a built-in circuit or by connecting
(bluetooth) to a telephone. The battery life depends on the capacity of the
battery and the power output of machinery (processor, receiver and lights).
The design of memory pools has little to do with it. For instance "serious"
receivers are powerful, so the battery life is shorter. Also processors have
to be fast in general purpose navigators -> battey life will be shorter.
