I need info from someone familiar with the logistics of the Singapore
airport. I'll be flying in from Manado with lots of luggage late in the
afternoon and fly out again very early the next morning.

Is it possible to stay at the transit hotel

and still go out for a evening in town and then return while the bags
remain at the transit hotel?

If not, is there a hotel near by that you can recommend?

Thanks.

I wouldn't see why not. Bear in mind that the train doesn't run that late -
cuts off before midnight as I recall. So if you're out later than that
you'll be stuck scrunched into a cab for the ride back out to the airport.

My concern is that the hotel is inside the secure area which in some
airports requires a boarding pass for entry. I'll have my ticket for the
flight out, but I'm not sure I can get a boarding pass until the next
morning.

The transit hotel has rates for every six hours.  My recollection is I paid
$30 for each six hour period.

I arrived at 6 a.m. and my connecting flight was same day at 8 p.m.  I did
get a transit visa to go into the city and return.  If your passport does
not require a visa to enter Singapore, then you will be issued a transit
visa when you exit.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know.

Yes, the hotel is in the secure area.  An alternative is to use the
left baggage facility.
