Staying in Phuket

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any recent experiences with any of
the following resorts on Phuket. I am looking for resports for our
honeymoon this July. The resort in mind are The Evason Phuket, The
Chedi Phuket or The Pimalai Resort. Has anyone stayed at any of these
resorts in the last 6 months?

The Pimalai is on Koh Lanta, not on Phuket. Their web site says it's
"close," but it's at least half a day away. For pictures from Feb 2002,

We loved it!
No experience with the other two.

For honeymoon I highly recommend for Evason Phuket (Villa Honeymoom room).

The Villa Honeymoom is locate on private island (only one room on small island) that far from main hotel about 10-15 minutes. you can see detail here

West facing beaches will not be usable in July and that applies to all
three choices. It's the Southwest monsoon season - that's why they are
cheap.

Onshore winds and waves big enough, in the case of the Chedi, which is
one of my favourite hotels and where I last stayed in November, to wash
most of the beach away. Face Southwest from Phuket and the next land is
Africa. Swimming is out of the question for much of the period, May to
September. If you want a beach type holiday in Thailand in July, better
go to the Gulf side or, at the very least, find an East facing resort.

I have been to Phuket in May and September and during these visits swells
were moderate. Can affect on poor swimmers but this and undertow are a
fraction compared to conditions in Kuta most of the year for instance.
Swells are truly large in few places in Thailand because the continental
shelf reaches pretty far into seas keeping waters shallow anywhere close to
shore.

I stayed at Karon last may and did not swim there once , Patong was much the
same. I found swimming was best as Kata if you still want to be close to
Patong(more protected).

BTW if it does not stop raining consider a trip or two to Phi Phi - it seems
to have a different weather pattern even though its pretty close to phuket.
Personally I do not think I would go there in May again due to the bad
weather - still had a great time but was expecting some of that postcard
type weather and water.
