Hello there

I have an Indonesian and South East Asian map on my website, feel free
to link to my page. The map showing relief in shades of greens and
browns. You can even zoom in or out on the map easily (flash should be
installed on your browser).

Hi Guys,

I hate to be negative, but travellers couldn't plan anything from a map like
that. Your Macromedia approach is good but the map needs 1000 times more
detail.

It's simply not in the same league as

Hi

Its ok tobe negative, map is under  development. Critics is always good
for website anyway. Hopefully my admin will add links to each provinces
on indonesia and that would link to a bigger map with details on that
province. Oh yes i have learned a bit more about the GIS data, very
interesting indeed!

No, it's not right to be negative.

Critical (as in important matter, the originial meaning of critic) and
constructive, yes.

But negative? No.

Anyway. I have problem viewing the flash, are you using Flash 7? You
might want to tone down a bit so that more people can see it.

As for the name of the map.

I suggest to rename it from "Map of Indonesia and South East Asia" into
"Map South East Asia", since "Map of Indonesia and South East Asia" is
like saying "Bahasa Indonesia and Indonesian language".

As for the detail.

Well... It might be better to add details like towns and the roads
connecting them. A roadmap that one would use to travel from one town
to another using the road would be a good example.

Anyway. I can't go zoom in due the limitation of my Flash player, so I
don't know how much detail the map have.

But just don't go too much detail, after all, this is only an overview.

If a traveller want more detail, he would get a much more detailed
local map of it and probably ask the locals.

It should be noted that things in the world changes rapidly, so it's
kinda useless to put a certain detail that would pretty much irrelevant
in the near future.

Hi Peter

Thanks for your reply and comment. I agree with you that the map should
lik to a more detailed map. I need to look around for a good licensed
map to link to really..but I cant get my head around this GIS map thing
lol.

Hi Digicross, thanks for your reply. To view the map, you need flash
player 7. It is nice to hear critics and after reading your reply i
think i need to display a non flash map on the site. And about the name
of map, I certainly agree with you. You'll see tomorrow the name would
changed, thanks for the tip !

But the zoom key only increase or decrease the size of the print, not
give me more details.  Usually when I zoom into a map more and more
details are revealed.

Hi

I'd just like to say that other people are being far too critical of
your efforts. Of course having a map where you can start from an
Asia-wide view and zoom down to street-level would be great. However, I
dont think such a map, yet, exists on the Internet.

I coudn't pan and zoom on your map when it's embedded. But, when I
clicked on the "full screen map window" I could then pan and zoom.

That you are content to accept low standards does not give me a lot of
confidence in your travel company.

Offering constructive advice and encouragement is the best way to help
Paul improve his map. Abuse and blatant negativity does not help.
