Several weeks ago, I posted a question to the list about alternative
transportation arrangements from HKIA to Guangzhou around 8 p.m. (or later)
on a Saturday evening. It seems there isn't much available on a weekend at
that time of the evening. The hotel in Guangzhou is willing to have a
driver meet me and my wife at the airport, but the price is crazy (RMB
3,080)! For RMB 3,080 I could stay in Hong Kong overnight and take a ferry
or express bus to Guangzhou the next morning, along with a nice breakfast,
etc. etc.
My question is; How long does it take to drive from HKIA to Guangzhou (White
Swan Hotel)? How long from Mongkok?
Thank you all for your previous replies to my travel dilemma, but it appears
my options for travel on a Saturday evening are limited.

Have you checked out the bus option? There are a number of bus
counters in the arrival hall (walk to the left as you exit from
customs, they are across from the MacDonalds). I remember arriving at
8 pm and they seem to be still in business. There seems to be buses to
several major cities.
