I just went to the VN web site (in the US)
http://www.vietnamembassy-usa.org/consular_services/visa_info/  and
followed the instructions: downloaded the form Fed Ex'd it, my passport,
a photo, $65 USD and a return Fed Ex mailer and in a week it was back to
me.  Some travel agents will do it cheaper but my direct approach worked
for me.

If you are squeamish about sending the passport, you can send two
passport photos and request a loose leaf visa. - same $$

Regards,
Jim

Another little know deal is that If you have a travel agent in Saigon
they can set up a visa on arrival at Tan Son Nhat but this must be set
up in advance.
