Hi,
on my first China trip I wanna spend time in ShenZen and YangShuo (near
Guilin), so please excuse my many newbie questions:
What is a good way to travel from Shenzen to YangShuo?
I know there is a direct night bus, but I am quite tall and really need a bit
of space to feel comfortable on long bus journeys. (Recently I was on a
heavily airconned night bus with no legroom in Laos and it was pure hell for
me).
So anybody knows whether the ShenZen - YangShuo bus is comfortable and how
long the journey takes?
Otherwise I could break the journey - any tips where?
Or how much would a flight ShenZen - Guilin be?
Cheers, Ernie.

Not much, see here for some prices of flights within China:

Just fly, unless you are on a very tight budget or enjoy spending hours
in a bus.

One of my all time favorite vacations was riding a bicycle from Hong Kong to
Yangshuo. Lots of beautiful small towns and scenic views along the way that
you will miss if you travel by airplane.

That sounds good.
How long did it take you?
And weren't the roads too busy?

Took about 10 days. Distance was about 600km total. The new paved highways
do get a lot of traffic, but the old dirt roads are pretty empty. We used
mountain bikes. If you don't speak Cantonese, you would be wise to hire a
professional guide. The road system is changing quickly and maps are not
reliable.
