Aruba had good snorkeling as did St. Maartin. But that ain't SQUAT compared
to Stingray City off Grand Cayman. I have snorkeled and dove for years
(actually Hawaii had better snorkeling and diving off the Fla Keys was
really great), but the LASTINGEST MEMORY goes to Stingray City, hands down.

I disagree.  I really did not like Stingray City at all.  It wasn't a
snorkeling or diving place as one stands in waist deep water which is
turbid and not clear.  Also I was unimpressed with Aruba.

IMO the best snorkeling and diving is in places like Belize, and
Cozumel with extensive reef systems, and the Virgin Islands.  I
haven't been to Bonaire, but I understand that is good too.

It sounds like you just went to Stingray City. Many operators there
like Captain Marvin will also take you to either one or two reefs in
addition to Stingray City. Or you can skip Stingray City and just do
the reefs. The reefs at Cayman are excellent.

You are correct in that I have not been to the reefs of Cayman, and
I'm sure they are good/excellent.  But I was answering someone who was
holding up Stingray City specifically as the best place to
snorkel/dive in the Caribbean.  I disagree with that assessment.  You
don't even have to swim to do Stingray City let alone dive.
