We visited the Nethercutt Collection museum in Sylmar, CA.  It's an
unbelievable collection of over 200 automobiles restored to Concours
condition.  One item of interest (did I say ONE?) was a 1937 Pierce Arrow
Travelodge, a fully self-contained travel trailer.  Fabricated of aluminum
and mountain birch, it was spectacular.  It had a galley, lavatory, drop
down dinette, and heater.  Electric lights.  It would do anyone proud today.
It was painted to match the 1937 Pierce-Arrow Limousine, which was equipped
to tow.  The car had a V-12, 185 HP, a princely sum in those days. In 1937,
Pierce-Arrow sold more Travelodges than cars.

BTW, the Nethercutt collection is a must see.  Not limited to autos, it has
vast collections of musical apparatus, furniture and far more.  Everything
on display is restored to perfect working condition. Easily a full-day
visit.  And it's free!

Thanks for that, Jim. I see it's near the intersection
of Hwy 5 and "The 210." We normally use the 210
as we travel to Palm Springs a couple times per year.
Gotta chech this one out.

There are 2 buildings.  One requires a guided tour (free).  Book it!  It has
much of the musical things, including a Wurlitzer theatre organ.  Check the
website.
