No one ever commented [that I saw] on the closeness of the header pipe
to the oil filter..

Question: How effective is the little heat shield strapped to the
filter?? Any Heat shield?? How much "air" space between the
pipe/shield and item you are trying to protect??
The reason I want to know is in order to free up some underbelly on my
bus, I am considering re-routing the exhaust.. but... one tight spot..

They make remote oil filters for a Ford and a Chevy but I don't know if they
make one for a MoPar.
That would be the way to go because then you could mount the filter away
from the heat of the exhaust.
