Odors in Closed up MH ...

Cliff - 27 Jul 2008 15:14 GMT Have to improve my "Signal to Noise" posting habits, so here is an On Topic post ...
When we bought this place, we parked the MH in back, closed up ... It's been there for about a month without any windows open. Yesterday (Sat.,) the DirecTV man came to change out our receiver for a HD receiver, FREE, and we went out to open the MH and turn on the AC ... the smell of formaldehyde was overpowering! Remembering the FEMA thread, thought I put this up. The MH was built in 2006 by Country Coach, we bought it new, lived in fulltime for 2 years, never had ANY odor before this.
This proves, to me at least, that all that "stink" about the FEMA trailers was a lawyer driven bit of misinformation, mainly to generate lawsuits! Just my take ...
Cliff in TN - who is in shock ... FREE from DirecTV????

FREE from DirecTV???? Appears as though the heat and lack of ventilation has drawn the fumes out, would be expected.

Is it also a DVR, or just a receiver?

He did offer to get a new DVR, but we never got to discussing if it would also be free.
BTW, Hunter, this all came about from an e-mail FROM DirecTV setting up the appointment. If you have a non HD receiver, you should also be getting notified ... or, you could call and check to see if you qualify.
Cliff in TN - who NOW has to get an HDTV for the MH bedroom LOL

I'd rather have my Tivo than have HD. My TV isn't HD anyway.

I see on their site that I can get free: DIRECTV® Receiver, or DIRECTV Plus® DVR Receiver, or DIRECTV® HD Receiver
For $99 (usually $199) DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR Receiver
But I can't find if a HD dish is free, and if not, what it costs.
Anybody know? _Know_?

I just got a 3 lnb directv dish on e bay for 3 dollars and 30 dollars shipping. It gets most of the HD and is much more easy than the 5 lnb.

And now the Bad news ... the 3 LNB will Not get the HD channels you want as soon as DirecTV gets their new birds online ... something about relocating channels. Maybe Don Bradnor will explain.
Cliff in TN - you'd think satellites grew on trees, the way DTV is putting them up ...

Maybe Don Bradnor will explain. The HD dish from Direct was huge! The guy said it weighed 30# and it needed two legs to screw it onto the roof. Could not be mounted on the wooden soffit. We were not happy with anything being screwed to the roof.

HUGE, but, does it ever bring in a strong signal

Looked like baby night crawlers with eyeballs. She couldn't eat them. Swapped her plate with our friend who ordered it. LZ

Last year, when we thought we were going to go with DirecTV, the HD dish, the HD receiver with DVR and a non-HD DVR were all free. Unfortunately the "free" installation was $110 and we balked. Stayed with Dish and got one plain receiver and one free dish with free install just for baseball.

We don't have HD from DirecTV, but that TV is not an HD TV.
We have 4 dishes: 1 regular Dish Network, 1 HD Dish Network, 1 regular DirecTV with a plain vanilla receiver, and 1 dish that receives radio waves for the Internet connection.

FREE from DirecTV???? We've never had an RV that didn't behave that way. The cure is simple. Buy a Max-Aire cover for one of your roof vents. Leave that vent open 24-7.
