Well, I have left Bay City and returned home.  I love my house.
It is nice to come home to after an extended RV stay.  12 weeks
is enough for me.  If I have to stay any longer, then I want a
larger RV.

Here are some interesting things about my trip.  Left Bay City
while experiencing a lot of rain from Dolly.  Evidently we were
on the northern extremes of the hurricane rain bands.  No
problems with that, though.  Glad to hear that your place faired
well, Linda, and that Bill made it through without being the
worse for wear.

Went to my family reunion up in Caddo Lake State Park over the
weekend.  Left my rig in Houston and rode to the event with my
sister in their new motorhome.  Nice,...38 feet, 3 slides, lots
of room, really well laid out.  For the life of me, I cannot
remember what kind it was.  I will have to talk to her and ask.
I can almost remember the name on the front, but it won't come to
me.  Magnolia to Caddo and back was 500 miles and we burned 97
gallons of diesel doing it.  That was running the generator while
on the road and carrying 9 people.  Very nice, but expensive.

The other interesting item is gas prices.  Bay City gas was about
3.85, Baytown gas was 3.55 and Austin gas is 3.80.  The Bay City
prices were from last thursday, the others from tuesday.  What
the hell is up with that?

In case you want cheap gas, take the 789 exit off I-10 in Baytown
and there are four truckstops.  Each has 3.55 to 3.57 per gallon
gas.  Diesel was 4.53.

Anyways, just got back home, so thought I would report in.

I see everything is pretty much the same.

Welcome back, Bob.

Caddo is an eerie place, back in the cypress bayous, but it's got
to be muggy and mosquito infested this time of year.  I recommend
it in March, or maybe November.

BTW, did you get to Uncertain?  About 5 miles down the road?
There's a hamburger place there, or used to be, called the Shady
Grove, and they've got the best onion rings in the known
universe.

Anyhow, welcome back.

Went to Uncertain the first night there and had a hamburger at
the Shady Grove.  Didn't try the onion rings.  We are again
having the reunion at Caddo next year, so I will put that on my
list of things to do.

It is indeed eerie, hot, and sticky.  But we pretty much stay at
the Rec Hall and cabin area (air conditioned), making ice cream,
cooking and visiting.  The kids went on a steam boat ride, but I
am the cook, so I did not get to go.

It is good to be back.
