These people wanted change

Dear Fellow Business Executives:

As the CFO of this business that employees 140 people, I have resigned
myself to the fact that Barack Obama will be our next President, and
that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure that our Clients will have
to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8%, but since we cannot
increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we
will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been
eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't
know how to choose who will have to be let go.

So, this is what I did. I strolled thru our parking lot and found eight
Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these
folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way
to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them.

If you have a better idea, let me know.

Sincerely,

The Boss

So, did you steal this from the poster, or did you both steal if
from the same place.  And I bet you didn't read the group before
you posted this message, did you?  Because if you did, you would
have seen someone else post it just before you did.

It was posted for you so we could test whether you could figure it out
the second time around.  But I see you still remain as dismally
ignorant the second time around as the first.

Regardless of the sarcasm of the other responders to this post I think
that would be an excellent way to approach a problem like this.

Every automaker could record the plate numbers of foreign cars in their
parking lots and use the information as a basis as to who gets laid off.

After all, if you have no faith in the product you are building, maybe
you should seek employment elsewhere?

actually, you won't find may rice rockets in the american automakers
employee lots.  they tend to get destroyed.

A friend who owns a PCB stuffing company in Huntsville sent that to me about a
week and a half ago.  He said that it is exactly the procedure he's using.
Business is down and he'd been putting off a layoff.  The Hussien bumper
stickers get the first pink slips.  He said that he was going to tell them
why.

Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

John,

you may want to advise your friend not to tell them the reason why.

There could be legal ramification, and a Dem judge & jury wouldn't be
sympathetic.

Better - lie and tell them they were picked at random.

I wouldn't recommend that, politics is a protected class (under beliefs)
and he would lose in just about any court

Ralph is probably right, but that is one of the signs that we are
already well into the soviet-style police state.  Employers SHOULD be
able to hire whom they wish, and fire whom they do NOT wish to keep
around.  The fact that they cannot do that is proof that we are in a
managed culture.

Bailout + oversight = seizure
Seizure = Nationalizing = Communism

This is almost too silly to comment on but....

No it's not.  There are any number of union members who wore the wrong bumper
sticker on their cars who found out what it was like to be black-balled.  I
don't agree with THAT practice but I've certainly heard it discussed in the
union hall often enough.

Hell, my mom almost got fired for driving a  Datsun 280z.  She worked for a
union international boss.  She WOULD have been fired  had the previous boss
who was still the godfather of the union not said the word.

I can't fire you on account of your religious beliefs (at least I don't think
I can) but damn sure can fire you because of your politics.  Of course, if you
come to work wearing one of my towels and sporting a "death to the infidels"
bumper sticker, I WILL figure out a way to get rid of you.  Legally.

I just have to wonder, Ralph. You've never been in upper management, have you?
When you're the CEO, prez, chairman of the board or hold some other position
at that level, you can do just about anything you want to do.  You simply have
to think about it awhile.  The law is simply an impediment to be gone over,
around or under.

In the case I cited, it's be my friend's word against the laid off employees.
Undoubtedly anyone who'd wear that bumper sticker is deadwood so it won't be
hard to document the selection criteria.  And since he's going to lay off more
than the number of Hussien idiots, there'll be folks to vouch for him.
Especially if he does what I suggested.
