Dick...(The Crook) Cheney caught double dipping again... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6119459.html McALLEN, Texas — A South Texas grand jury has indicted Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on charges related to the alleged abuse of prisoners in Willacy County's federal detention centers. The indictment criticizes Cheney's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees by working through the prison companies. The local DA who brought the indictments is quite a character. This is his "last hurrah" before he leaves office and no one here takes him seriously. Last year, while under indictment himself by charges brought by a political rival who was the Sheriff, he was banned from the courthouse so he set himself up with an RV trailer in front of the building and a bunch of chickens and goats. We expect the whole thing to go away, but it would be very interesting if it didn't. Willacy County, Texas is a poor county with mostly struggling farms and ranches and little industry. Their biggest industry is the detention center for the undocumented caught at the borders.
