My wife and I are about to become full timers.  We have abandoned our WA residence
for SD.  We got one quote for a high deductable health insurance from an agent in SD and
the premium was 40% higher than our premium in WA (Seattle area) for similar coverage.
Since we're still covered by our WA policy until 31-December-2004 we decided to pass
on the SD policy and do more research.  By the way, we were informed that the local
Blue Cross affiliate won't insure us because we don't physically live full time in SD.

Any recommendations on major medical (high deductable) health insurance policies
for full timers that are legal residents of SD would be appreciated.  HSA policies
would be even better.

Other than transferring your residency to Canada, where Health Care, is
merely an assumed right; you choose to live in a a country where the
electorate chooses to spend YOUR money upon saving a bunch of foreign
Moose Limbs from themselves against their wishes. :-(  Duh!!

So Stan,
Your nearly incoherent half-assed pitch for socialized medicine answered or
helped with OP's question how?
Part of being a FREE Americans is not having the Government mandate your
healthcare, or what you speed the money you earn on.
Your post was useless and your Anti-American tone not appreciated.
You don't like it here, Or think Canada has it all figured out, please stay
in Canada and enjoy yourself...

Actually the one that did not provide anything useful was your-self with
your Anti-Canadian rhetoric, you have got to love the ones that can
recognize they are own faults in others. OTOH the fact that Stan's
suggestion is not to your liking would be entirely your problem, perhaps you
could enlighten us how your evil commie Medicare works?

You get your needed health care and the provider sends Medicare the
bill.  You get a copy.  You can carry a supplement to pay the portion
Medicare does not pay, pay it yourself or it may be picked up by an
insurance plan you carried into retirement.

My knee replacements cost approximately $150,000, were done by a
surgeon of my choice, at a time and place I wanted.  Our landlord's wife
who was a Canadian, died because her cancer spread to her lungs while
she waited over 6 months for critical kidney surgery.

Which system would you prefer to use?

Wade, Who believes SOCIALIZED MEDICINE is good,
Actually the two that did not provide anything useful were you and Stan with
your same old misinformed Anti-American rhetoric.
You are so quick on the trigger to prop up Canada, God knows it needs all
the propping up they can get, that you can't even comprehend what you have
read.

>"Any recommendations on major medical (high deductible) health insurance

What part of "that are legal residents of SD" don't you and Stan understand?
Do you generally suffer reading comprehension problems, maybe it's
something in the water?

...
By the way:
The American Hispanic buying power will exceed the entire Canadian economy
by the year 2009!

It is the sign of a major jerk to play with the FROM: character set just
to escape kill files.

One of the beauties of Agent - regular expression filters.  "w.d." takes
care of all of this child's permutations of its name.

If you hadn't quoted a piece of one of his posts, I'd never have seen
it.  But I must respond to your statement with...

Very true, but Wade IS a major jerk.  I've discovered through some
inquiries that it is very likely to be considered libel for making posts
using a person's proper name and that, if one so desired, a lawsuit could
end this sort of thing.  Shaw states that they would comply with the law in
every way possible regarding such a suit.  I'm not going to worry about it,
though, for every post Wade makes simply reinforces what he is showing
himself to be - a childish, vindictive, vicious, underhanded, and stupid,
spoiled, functionally illiterate brat.  He's just never gotten past that
"third grade mentality".  He probably even walked his 9-year old to school
because they were both in the same grade.

What goes around, comes around, sooo...I figure that he'll get
his...sooner or later.

Good luck. We had to move back to Michigan so I could get insurance. I'm not
insurable in SD.
