Televisions at Stansted

Does anyone know if there are televisions at Stansted, but before
departures. I've got to drop someone off there on Sunday, but want to watch
the England vs Ecuador match.

(I know there is one in Wetherspoons, but that is in departures, and I'm
only not travelling...).

If there is nothing in the airport, can someone recommend a good pub,
preferably off the M11 northbound, where the game is definitely going to be
shown?

Cheers!!

There's a Wetherspoons in the public shopping area between the checkin
desks and where arriving passengers emerge from Customs. I don't know if
it has a TV. Off-hand, I don't remember seeing any TVs anywhere else
landside in the terminal.

The M11 goes through pretty empty territory north of Stansted (and there
are not that many junctions). How far north are you prepared to go?

If all else fails, there's a TV in the lounge/bar of the Holiday Inn
Express (near the mid-term car park). But they'll probably charge a
fiver to park there. You could also try the Radisson, which is next to
the terminal building. There will probably be a "big screen" in the
centre of Cambridge, but parking nearby may be difficult (parking is
*always* difficult in Cambridge).

No there is not, the only pub landside is O'neils at the end of Zone A
check-in desks (furthest from the front of the terminal).

There is nothing where passengers arrive from Customs

OK, so I mis-remembered the name of the chain.

The pub is in the shopping area between Zone A and where passengers
arrive from Customs.

I'm confused: Is there at TV is O'Neils (landside)?

As for the other comment about Cambridge - I'll don't think I'll have time
to quite make it there. How about Safrfon Walden or Great Dunmow - any good
pubs (with TVs!) there?

Peter says there is.

Sorry, not up to date with those towns. I'm sure they have plenty of
pubs, I'm just not sure about their TV status.

Yes their is a number of Plasma screens in the O'neils bar landside at
Stansted, it is not however near where arriving passengers come out from
customs, as previously posted it is at the end of check-in zone A
(furthest from the front of the terminal).  Hope to see you in there, as
I have to work Sunday afternoon as well :-((

The "Shopping Mall" is in between Zone A and where passengers exit
customs. The bar is in that "Shopping Mall".

Don't want to get into an argument about this but it is not.

That "shopping mall" as you call it contains Costa Coffee (on your right
as you exit customs), then if you follow it round, WH Smiths and a
Bureau De Change, then round the corner again to Zone A check-in (Where
Air Berlin desks are) where there is Cotton traders, Clarkes Shoes,
Impulse Music and Video and Claires accessories.

O'neils is not even connected to that area, it is in the next part of
the building, you enter by going past Pret a Manger and Pontis
restaurants, it's quite well hidden, in fact many people cannot find it
easily and ask for directions.

I've worked at Stansted for 13 years, trust me I know where things are
located.

Hopefully our originally poster will have no bother now.

If you go to:

http://www.stanstedairport.com/terminalmaps/index_flash.htm?airport=Stansted

Then starting at the bottom purple zone the "Shopping Mall" is clearly shown
as a block of shops starting at No 37 (the Costa you mention) then going round
past 30-27 on the right, with 26 on the left. Next section over, it continues
24-22 on the right and 20-21 on the left.

This are is quite clearly located between the Customs area with International
Arrivals Concourse in the front, and Row A of checkin. The O'Neills is at the
back of the Mall, but if you want to find the way into the mall look between
Row A and the Exit to customs.

The Stansted website also says:

Whether you are an England fan or follow the boys from Brazil, you can
watch the beautiful game this summer in the following locations.

       Before security

       O'Neills
       JD Wetherspoons

So they claim there *is* a Wetherspoons. But I think it's a mistake.

Watched the match in O'Neils. Absolutely packed, but at least saw the match
and a (unconvincing) win.

I watched in the Coral Betting shop opposite. They had three small TVs
showing it, but the commetary alternated between football and
horse-racing...
