Does anyone here have much experience of Cardiff Airport?

What's it like? How quickly can you get through the airport and on to
a flight? Is 1.5 hours enough?

Some supplementary questions before we can give you a sensible answer:

- Which airline are you flying with?
- Where to?
- What nationality of passport do you hold (if it's an international
flight)?
- Have you any bags to check in?
- Are you travelling with children, elderly, disabled or anyone else who
might need special assistance?

Don't know which airline yet.

So it will be bmibaby to Belfast International or, if you're travelling
after 1 May, Flybe to Belfast City.

In both cases, arriving at the airport 90 minutes before your flight will be
stacks of time.  Both bmibaby and Flybe have a deadline of 30 minutes before
departure.

If you're flying with FlyBe, you can check in online when leaving Belfast
City [but NOT when leaving Cardiff], even if you have a bag.  If you're with
Bmibaby, you can only check in online if you are not checking a bag.

> British passport

No issue as it's a domestic flight.

Bear in mind that Belfast International and Belfast City are quite a way
apart - what's your final destination?

It's unusual for the nationality of traveller to make a difference when

But surely photo-ID will be required, and a passport is the most robust.

It can do if it's a non-EU passport and they need to satisfy themselves that
the traveller will be admitted to their destination country.  Granted, not
usually a challenge, but if it was an exotic passport/visa/residency
combination it could add a little delay.

Oh absolutely - I was referring to the passport nationality being a
non-issue as it's domestic...

Of course. I overlooked the check-in issue.

Belfast City, I think. I'm going on a trip with work, and they've
making all the arrangements. All I know is that the flight is leaving
Cardiff at 12.45 on 11 May, and I was just checking how early I need
to get up to get to Cardiff in time.

Thanks for the advice.

You're with FlyBe to Belfast City then.  A piece of advice - if you need to
take a taxi from Belfast City airport to your destination, then DON'T take a
black cab from the rank there.  They are, to say the least, not the best
drivers in the world and unfortunately overcharging and misrouting is rife.
Rather, once you're off the plane, call one of the two good minicab
companies in Belfast - Fonacab on 028 9023 3333 or Value Taxis on 028 9080
9080 - and they'll meet you outside the terminal.  You shouldn't have to
wait too long that time of day, they'll probably be there by the time your
bag comes out.
