Hi,

I'm visiting friends in Nashua, NH this weekend with two teens.
It's a last-min. Site-59 deal which includes two rooms in Radisson
Chelmsford, MA, and a full-size vehicle.  I've been to Boston for
conference but basically just stayed in downtown.  In the mean time I
know it's pretty difficult to drive in Boston.  Is there an
inexpensive parking lot close to T with plenty spaces (for Sat/Sun)?  I
know I can also take the train.  How's the weekend parking situation
in the train station of Lowell or North Billerica?

Thanks.

alewife is HUGE.....i think it is at least a 3 story garage, plus the
flat spaces.....

river drive, unless the sox are playing, and even if they are, is so
big I dont think its ever more than 3/4ths full......

Why not drive? You should have no problem on a weekend, esp. since you
are planning to drive to Nashua, not Boston.

Sorry for not making it clear.  I'm visiting friend that lives in
Nashua.  But I intend to take my niece to Boston on weekend.

Hello,
I used to commute from Lowell to Boston for about 4 months in 1997 ...
The most convenient way was to take the train from Lowell. There is a
parking garage at the train station ... if I remember right, it was
possible to get free parking on the weekends in the lot of the station,
and on a nearby (empty) factory building ...
As someone else mentioned, the subwaystations north of Boston are an
option too, e.g. Alewife, there is usually space to park your car ...
Driving right into Boston ... I would think twice! Depending on the time
the traffic was always heavy. Its better on the weekends though.
I don't know about the state of the "Big Dig" ... construction ahead!
I experiened that parking downtown is usually never for free ... very
few exceptions exists e.g.during the night.
All in all, if you don't depend on the car, I think you are better off
to park outside of Boston, at least not downtown, and then use the
public transportation ...
Your friends in Nashua might also be familiar with the current situation ...

Don't miss "Martha's Exchange" brew pub in Nashua ... and many others in
Boston and Cambridge!!
Enjoy your stay!

Thanks, Martin.  I totally agree with you.
I drove in Boston once on a semi-business trip, lax-nyc-bos-nyc-lax.
Even though my company covers everything including parking, I started
using the T the next day.  It's just easier, particularly for visitors.
