Dear

I am planning to travel from Vancouver to Banff. Where can I find a
decent online map for that? Currently I am using maps.google.com which
is poor on Canada.

Even several books of mine such as lonely-planet have not good map.

Thank you very much Dennis. That's exactly what I wanted.

That map is the most direct route.  Variations include:

- At Hope, staying on Highway 1 up the Fraser Canyon (very scenic)
- At Hope, taking highway 3 through manning park and then travelling
north on Hwy 97 through the Okanagan (Lake Country)
- From Vancouver, take Hwy 99 north through Whistler, connecting with
the Trans Canada Hwy #1 in Cache Creek (Hugely Scenic)

Let me know if you'd like details on any of these options.

The third option is very scenic, but parts of it are not for the faint
hearted. I had heart about scary roads in BC,and thought that reports of
them had been exaggerated, finding the major roads to be no problem at
all. Then on my fourth or fifth trip out there I took a drive from Vernon
up to Kamloops, across through Cache Creek and then down to Whister.
Some of those stretches down 99 were a little scary, long, long descends
on severe grades. I was a little concerned about the brakes on my little
Nissan rental.  But we managed, and the incredible scenery made it all
worthwhile.

We did the third option last year with a 28 feet RV and it is realy a
incredible
drive. The first part till Cache Creek is a litlle bit boring, but if there
is a next
opportunity we will do it again with much pleasure.
