Never been to Yellowstone National Park and want to spend 3~4 days there
this summer. Any recommendations on where to stay in term of hotel,
motel or lodge?
Thanks

Stay inside the park if you can still get a reservation. Book now for
next summer, if it's not too late already.

There are also some RV rental places in I think Madison. You could rent the
RV and use the campgrounds if no hotels available.

Read up on things over at the "Total Yellowstone" page:
http://www.yellowstone-natl-park.com/ The chat area is a wealth of info
from a lot of people that know Yellowstone better than they know their own
back yard!
Also, don't rely solely on the web site for lodging reservations,
particularly now that you are getting pretty late in the planning. Call the
Xanterra, the people that run the lodges and hotels in the park. They
sometimes have rooms for phone reservations even when the web site says none
are available.
Stay in the park if you can at all do so. It's a long drive from most
places outside the park, and traffic can get pretty heavy. I'd hate to see
you miss part of the park due to getting stuck in a bison-jam for a couple
hours!

I would recommend to pick more than one lodge. Yellowstone is huge and I
wouldn't underestimate driving distances.
Last year I visited Yellowstone for the first time (total of 5 nights).
If you've 4 nights my advice would be:
1 night in Gardiner (ouside the northwest entrance of the park, good
location for the Mammoth Springs area). In Gardiner the Super8 was quite
good.
2 nights at the Canyon Village (central area of the park, this is a good
location to visit the Grand Canyon of the Yellowsone, Tower-Roosevelt, Lamar
valley and also Lake Yellowstone). I didn't like the cabins but the location
is great.
1 Night at the Old Faithful Lodge (this is an excellent location for the
southeastern part of the park, where all the main geysers and basins are).
