We're heading for the Carolinas in two weeks, and my daughter has sprung a
request to go whale watching on me. I've done this on the west coast, off
San Diego, before.. but I'm wondering (hoping, possibly in vain) if whales /
porpoises / any cetaceans at a loose end / pass by Myrtle Beach-ish this
time of year, and if anyone runs boats to go see them.

Anyone got any info?

I'm sorry that I don't have an answer to your question, but I just
wanted to say how cute it was. "Hey, Joan, ya wanna go check out
the Carolinas next week? I hear there are some great anchovy places
there..."

I don't know of any whale watches, but that doesn't rule them out.  Check
out Murrell's Inlet.  There's a boat place called Captain Sam's, and if
anyone does a whale watch it would be them.  Murrell's Inlet is just south
of Myrtle Beach.

If your daughter will settle for sharks, you can watch the surfers and the
sharks together at the Murrell's Inlet Pier.

Thanks K.  Do sharks and surfers mix, or is it just ready meals for the big
fish...?  ;-)

As far as I can tell, THE PLACE for whale watching is Tadoussac, QC.
Don't know for sure; we were there, but didn't look for whales. But I
keep reading stuff.

He's going to SC, not QC. Regardless, there is dolphin tours
and there is the rare chance you will see a whale or 2.
Contact your hotel and they will give you more info.
