I'm trying to find some news on a car accident we saw on the way out of
Montreal and can't find anything.
We were on the 401 west out of Montreal about 10pm Sunday night,
stopped at a convenience store/go-kart track when I heard a loud squal,
but no "crash" sound.
About 5 to 10 minutes later, tops, we left and off the side of the
highway was a car with a crunched front-end completely and totally
engulfed by fire.
There were two police cars there and they already had flares down the
lane.
But we didn't see another car that may have been involved, nor anything
that the car on fire could have hit.
We also didn't see anyone standing around, so I'm really hoping whoever
had been in the car was sitting in one of the squad cars.
Anyway, I've been searching Google and looking at sites like canada.com
and cbc.ca and can't find any reference to any story like that.
Anyone know of a) this event or b) some Montreal newspaper/TV news Web
site I can search that I may not be finding through Google?
Thanks!
Liam

Try www.newslink.org. They include Canadian papers.

You can check some of the local newspaper sites, but you may have trouble
with a search if you are looking for something on the 401 near Montreal
because the 401 ends at the Ontario - Quebec border.

Ah, maybe it was the 20, then, which becomes the 401.
Drat, I'm not sure where exactly. It was pretty soon after Montreal, so
it must still have been in Quebec and on the 20 then.
Thanks for the reminder!

If you can come up with the name of the closest town, just do a google
search for "newspaper [name of city] ". But auto accidents don't
always get much mention in papers, especially if no one was seriously
hurt.
Another approach if you're really curious would be to phone the police
department that responded and just ask them.
