Traveling eastbound from MI to NY state.

Have always taken QEW to 405 to I-190 to I-290 to I-90 (NY Thruway).

Someone mentioned staying on QEW and crossing in Buffalo on the Peace
Bridge as an alternative.

Any opinions? Will be crossing into US about 10AM on a Friday or
Saturday.

Thanks for any tips.

I always cross at Lewiston, I find it quicker to go through the
border/customs/inspection etc. that way. Also, you're right on the
highway after you cross. I can't remember if you are in Buffalo, its
been a while since I crossed there and when I did I got lost.

If you cross at the Queenston - Lewiston bridge you are in .... Lewiston, a
few miles north of Niagara Falls and about 15 miles north of Buffalo.

I did not word that right, I realize that you are in Lewiston. What I
wasn't sure of is when you cross at Buffalo, whether you are right on
i-90 or not.

No. You get on 190 there and skirt around Buffalo to get on 90. I generally find
it quicker to cross at Buffalo.  Besides, it saves a bit on tolls.

Would you say then that the wait times at the border are shorter at
Buffalo too?

From my experience, Buffalo tends to have the fastest crossing times.

For whatever it's worth, on the last Monday in June, I crossed into the
U.S. on the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls.  I was through customs in
a matter of minutes.  About 20 minutes later when I passed under the
Peace Bridge on I-190, I saw that U.S.-bound traffic was backed up
across the border.  Granted, this was during the evening rush, around 6
p.m.  YMMV, especially earlier in the day.
