The department stores will be ready for the Christmas shopping season.
You could spend a few hours on Fifth Avenue gazing at the intricately
animated shop windows.  What part of November.  If it includes
Thanksgiving Day you can arrive early on the parade route, stake out
your place and watch the parade. As with the fireworks on July 4th,
Macy's Department Store really does the Thanksgiving Parade up big time.

Here's a link to the official Visitors site in New York city:

When is the thanks giving day?
Gadi Ben-Avi - 27 Aug 2006 14:12 GMT
Thanksgiving is on Thuesday, November 23rd 2006.

The day after Thanksgiving is a big shopping day with big sales and long
lines.

One of the nice things to do there that time of year is see the huge
Christmas Tree at Rockerfeller Center, and also check out Macy's.

Let's not forget the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Isn't that when the
put up their huge creche with antique Italian terra cotta figurines?
