Gambia - hole in the wall cash machines?31 Jul 2004 16:17 GMT3
Has anyone discovered a "hole in the wall"
that actually produces cash in this country? My attempts in
Bakau/Banjul/Serrakunda & Kololi last year produced nothing but
regretful smiles from the staff. My bank (Nat. West) has no

I am thinking of spending 9 nights in Luxor next May.  Is this a
reasonable length of time or too long?
going from US to South Africa, help to unlock/get better rates, please30 Jul 2004 11:08 GMT11
I saw some discussion here about traveling abroad and having an
unlocked phone so one could switch the sim card etc. to get cheaper
calling rates.
I am a total babe in the woods on that.  I am about to go to South
Running in Morocco29 Jul 2004 12:22 GMT2
I'm going to Morocco in September and would like to keep up my running
while I'm there.  Is it acceptable to run in the city streets?  And
are 'normal' running clothes ie. shorts, tee-shirt/vest acceptable?
Thank you.

Ashanti Lodge Cape Town25 Jul 2004 18:13 GMT2
In case you want informations about the Ashanti Lodge in Cape Town, I
can tell you (and demonstrate) that it is the dirtiest and most
expensive backpacker that I saw in South Africa, which is a pity
because the place could be nice but probably the management don't know
Cape Town Hotels - Cullinan vs. Holiday Inn?25 Jul 2004 16:20 GMT1
I'm spending 8 nights in Cape Town next month, and am trying to find a
hotel with hi-speed internet access. Does anyone here know if either of
these hotels have it? I've emailed both but have never heard back from
either...

Accommodation in Nigeria22 Jul 2004 19:55 GMT5
I am travelling to Nigeria this summer (in August) and was wondering
about what to do about accommodation there. Ideally I'd like to book
something in advance, but looking on the Internet accommodation seems
horrendously expensive (at least going by the non-local price).
Jo-Burg, Capetown, Namibia questions22 Jul 2004 09:33 GMT3
I'll be in Jo-burg for a few days, 1) Can I drink the water, eat
salads, without concern. I'll be at one of the northern resorts and
also at a barbie over an associate's house. 2) Same question for Cape
Town (Staying at a hotel). Thirdly, Can I just fly up/drive up to
Motorbiking from Tanzania to South Africa21 Jul 2004 14:32 GMT4
Hi travellers,
I am planning to travel from Tanzania to South Africa with a passenger
hanging on the back. The bike we'll be travelling on is a Kawasaki
KLR650 - its green.
Mandazi recipe20 Jul 2004 00:58 GMT30
I had Mandazis in Zanzibar which I have not been able to replicate.  It
was more like a deep-fried bread roll than a doughnut (texture was
meatier than a doughnut).  Does anyone have a Zanzibari recipe?  I have
not been able to find one on the internet.
add's on group18 Jul 2004 11:53 GMT2
Seems to me as if we are losing the battle against spam? Previously I have
tried to email these spammers directly and asking them politely to refrain
from doing so - many reacted positively. Now it is getting too much for me.
Any suggestions / help?
SA Low-fare airlines17 Jul 2004 17:20 GMT1
Please help me remember all the low-fare airlines
that fly within South Africa. I know Kulula and
Nationwide, but I am sure there are a couple
of newer ones whose names I have disremembered.
