hotel, bus, for 25-30 $per day??? I traveled in asia but asie is more cheap
and ther was possible rent car for exapmple in Burma 30$  per day ...

It has been said before, but I dont mind repeating it :-) - you seem
like a helpful bunch in this group!  And most of my questions have been

Has anyone who has recently been to Kinshasa (or lives there) advise me
on current safety conditions and/or accomodation possibilities?  I am a
Ph.D. student planning a 6-week research trip in June and July 2005 to

Will I be able to use my USA cell phone in South Africa to make emergency
calls?   What is the emergency number in SA which is the equivalent of 911
in the USA?

I have not purchased traveler's checks, even for international travel, in
years.  I use my credit card for most bills.  When I need cash I get local
currency from ATMs.  Is this a practical option in South Africa and
Zimbabwe?

We are planning on going to Tanzania for a couple of weeks and maybe 4
or 5 days in Zanzibar, and wouldlke to stay  at a on the beach resort
close enough or in a town where we can visit shop, etc.

Can anyone tell me is there a website that easily tells me,e which airlines
fly into Nairobi (or other places.) It used to be easy with a hardcopy of
the World Airways Guide, but I don't know how you do it these days
