Trip Report NCL-LHR-IAD-SEA-IAD-LHR-NCL (long)23 Sep 2003 21:15 GMT7
* Newcastle - London (British Airways) 21st June
Arrived at the airport 2 hours before the flight. I'm led to believe 10
minutes is sufficient if you don't have any baggage.
I wanted to give plenty time as I had 2 bags when my ticket said I was only

Since I've come down very hard on the HAS for their mediocre web site
so many times in the past, it's only fair that I applaud them for the
new site.

Media influence23 Sep 2003 18:11 GMT2
I was looking at the headlines on CNN this morning, and was struck by
how they and the other news organizations present stories.  I know it's
a blinding flash of the obvious to say that the news outlets can be
biased, but this was more in how things were presented or what they

More on jetBlue, CAPPS-II, and Total Information Awareness23 Sep 2003 08:06 GMT2
Last Monday, I broke the story on my Web site, in my newsletter, to
the Infotec-Travel e-mail list, and in the "rec.travel.air" Usenet
newsgroup that 5 million jetBlue Airways passenger name records (PNR's)
were provided to a USA government subcontractor apparently working on
North America non-stop to India?23 Sep 2003 02:30 GMT3
Air Canada begins a Toronto-Delhi non-stop service in October.
Someone has posted that another airline will start a non-stop service from
Vancouver to Delhi and/or Amritsar.  The weblink did not work.  Does anyone
know the name?
Mail bombed!22 Sep 2003 22:08 GMT6
So far I have received over 1000 "Microsoft" phony patch messages containing
a worm or virus. I assume whoever is behind this has been harvesting e-mail
addresses from the newsgroups. Anyone else getting bombed with these fake
messages?. I'm closing this e-mail account and trying to ...
CONCORDE in FS2004??22 Sep 2003 18:01 GMT1
Whenever I play FS2000 now I look back fondly on the 20th century.  We
had passenger jets that cruised at 1350 mph, and twin
rectangular-prism-shaped buildings standing at 1350 feet off the
ground each.  I can only imagine when we'll have such grandeur again.
Security Delays at SEA?22 Sep 2003 17:19 GMT3
So how bad are the security lines at SEA?  I've heard some say it's a
piece of cake, and I've heard others say they've arrived two hours early
and still missed their flights.  (I'm guessing that these people were
flying on different days at different times).
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan....YIKES!22 Sep 2003 17:12 GMT3
Alaska just sent out the 2004 rules for their MVP and MVP Gold Plan.  More
miles to qualify and less benefits.  What was the best frequent flyer plan is
now nothing special.  If you are a member, please let them know how you feel at

At a time when Boeing seems to be investing its future in long haul
twin ops, this doesn't seem to be very helpful. Air New Zealand for
one is due to update its long haul fleet soon, and this must be a

More Security Stupidity22 Sep 2003 02:11 GMT2
I tried to use web check-in for my Northwest flight tomorrow (dog leg, full
fare, advance ticket in F), but Northwest's website wouldn't let me, telling
me that there was no record of my ticket.
I called my TA's weekend number, and they confirmed that I was ticketed for
Q's about BA's "World Traveler Plus"21 Sep 2003 15:06 GMT5
I'm thinking of paying for World Traveler Plus seats on a direct
flight from LAX to LHR, both for the extra comfort and so I can get
the triple air miles. A few questions:
Is the upgrade worth the extra $$$? Is the extra room enough to make a
Will I make this connecting flight at Hong Kong International Airport?21 Sep 2003 13:00 GMT34
Planning a trip to Asia.  Will this work:  Arriving on Cathay CX 829
to Hong Kong at 8:00AM and need to make a connecting Cathay flight CX
717 for Singapore leaving at 8:55AM.  I'll be arriving in Hong Kong
from Toronto.  I've never flown to Hong Kong before, so I don't know
