Sparkling Wine and air travel12 Dec 2003 09:35 GMT8
This may be a silly question, but...
Has anyone had any trouble carrying-on bottles of sparkling
wine/champagne?  I'd like to take a couple of bottles to my parent's
house for Christmas, but was worried about getting hassled by security

ISO Best/Worst Duty Free Shops11 Dec 2003 23:54 GMT13
I'm researching a story on the best and worst duty free shops for
Americans and was hoping for some expert advice.
That duty-free is generally a bad deal has been well documented here,
but I'd be interested to know which duty-free shops are generally the

Electric plug for laptop PC at Heathrow11 Dec 2003 22:04 GMT3
Does anyone know if there is a place to plug in a laptop PC at
Heathrow airport? I have a long layover at the airport and would
prefer something low/no cost and generally available (i.e. not the
first/business class lounges).
Advice appreciated re: airline's liability for their staff's negligent actions11 Dec 2003 20:22 GMT17
Hi, can someone please advise me on just what an airline's legal
liabilities are (if any) when one of their staff unintentionally
disseminates misinformation that directly causes a passenger to suffer
extraordinary expenses and mental stress?
British Airways complaint11 Dec 2003 18:34 GMT4
Hello I wonder if someone can advise me.
I have a complaint about damaged luggage by B. A. I've written two letters
to the complaints department, emailed them once and phoned them twice over a
period of 3 months all contact has been ignored. I believe in going to the

Why are laptops singled out?11 Dec 2003 15:09 GMT4
Has any terrorist or otherwise unsavory airline passenger ever disguised a
weapon or explosive device as a laptop?
I have heard that laptops are singled out because of financial liability.
If that's the case, then isn't it safer for the laptop to remain in its snug
turboprop vs turbofan aircraft - economics and passenger preferences11 Dec 2003 15:06 GMT37
Every now and then when I get in a conversation about travel the other
person will express how much they dislike traveling in propeller
aircraft. What I've never really gotten out of them is exactly why they
dislike it, other than the general feeling that they think a turboprop
Mytravel Downstairs Toilets - A33011 Dec 2003 14:07 GMT3
I notice that on MyTravel A330 with downstairs toilets that they have a
member of crew on "toilet duty" sitting outside at all time?
Does anyone know the reason for this? Is it cost effective to build toiltes
below if it require a full time crew member to operate?
Trip report LHR-HEL-RVN-HEL-LHR11 Dec 2003 11:01 GMT6
The lure of Santa got the better of me and we decided to take the kids off
to Rovaniemi, Finland to meet Santa.  Fare was £205 (adults),  £137 (kids)
plus tax of £35.  Although not exactly bargain basement prices we figured
that we could get a 3 night break this way for the price of ...
ATL departure report11 Dec 2003 08:38 GMT5
As promised, I had a look at the tables used at security. In the UK it's
very common to see what I call "wallpapering tables" (I doubt that car
boot sales would be viable without them!). Made of cheap timber with a
hardboard top and a sag in the middle. The equivalent item in the ...

First trip report; after reading (and enjoying) many trip reports I
decided to write one myself.  This was a three-week vacation from the
Netherlands to Japan, flying from London instead of Amsterdam because it
was much cheaper (we paid EUR 566 return incl. taxes on Lufthansa,
