I haven't flown since last summer and at that time it seemed only people who had metal in their shoes were removing them to go through security. However, it seems since then this whole shoe thing has been getting more attention--not just the metal aspect, either.

I just tried to book two air tickets through a tour operator but was told I HAD to have comprehensive travel insurance (not necessarily their own). If I book air tickets through one of the carriers I am not asked for this. I thought that mandatory travel insurance had been outlawed ...

I am looking at flights to send my kids to camp, and United and US Airways have, remarkably, the exact same flight schedules between FLL and CLT. Besides a few dollars in price, is there any difference between these airlines? I have never flown on either.
