Typical Time for Immigration/Customs for International Pax at Atlanta22 Aug 2004 22:33 GMT1
I am a German citizen and will be heading to the States next week. Our
flight will arrive in Atlanta Hartsfield Airport where we will have 2
hours and 10 minutes till departure of our continuing flight to Salt
Lake City.
New (?) security procedure at YUL22 Aug 2004 13:36 GMT1
I recently traveled to Montréal and had my bags swabbed (to detect
explosives, I assume) while going though departure security.  This wasn't
done when I went though YYZ late last year, so I guess it must be a new
thing.  Are the major American airports doing this as well?
TSA/Dept of Fatherland Security incompetance:  Ted Kennedy on No Fly  List22 Aug 2004 08:44 GMT15
For a country that once upon a time could put a man on the moon, this
ranks as a new low in terms of inter-departmental communication and
air-travel IT infrastructure command and control.
I guess this was actually a small victory for Ted.  He actually got
using one half of round trip (outbound)21 Aug 2004 23:18 GMT1
Just wanted to post a response I received from NWA regarding using
half of a RT ticket.    It appears that no penalty would be incurred
(other than not being able to get a refund) by only using the outward
bound leg of a non-refundable RT flight.
Pax With Swiss Army Knife Shuts Down LAX21 Aug 2004 18:06 GMT8
According to KTLA, a guy with a Swiss Army knife was "mistakenly"
allowed through the security checkpoint. When the TSA realized this,
they shut down terminal 4 and evacuated everybody. Incoming flights
sat on the tarmac for 2-1/2 hours - and, of course, they wouldn't let

IMPORTANT BREAST CANCER HOSPITALIZATION BILL21 Aug 2004 12:55 GMT1
IMPORTANT BREAST CANCER HOSPITALIZATION BILL
This bill is important legislation for all women and also for all men
whose loved ones might be or are victims of this disease. I am one of
those men. Breast cancer killed my dear wife twelve years ago!
Pervert at airports21 Aug 2004 11:33 GMT13
WARNING: watch for PERVERTS at US airports.
The so-called government employee with the label TSA are perhaps the first
legalized perverts sanctioned by the US government.
Taking advantage of their authority, the useless TSA officers enjoy running
Complimentary drinks20 Aug 2004 18:11 GMT4
We usually travel KLM/Northwest to the USA from our local airport,we have
always had complimentary bar service (in economy). We are not heavy drinkers
BTW, just enjoy the wine with our meals, we prefer to drink water for the
rest of the journey.
ba strike, when?20 Aug 2004 09:34 GMT7
News show said a BA strike date is about to be announced
(possibly for the group that runs the airports rather than
the airline?).  If you hear details, can you post please?
Perfume shuts airport !20 Aug 2004 02:14 GMT2
(CNN) -- A liquid substance that forced authorities to shut down the Fort
Wayne International Airport in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for several hours
Wednesday has been determined to be a component used to make perfume, a fire
department official said.
RJs Cause Airport Gridlock19 Aug 2004 22:24 GMT16
I have a theory that the conversion from turboprops to regional jets is
contributing to airport gridlock.  The props often used "lesser" runways,
while I see RJs usually using the main runways.  This reduces effective
airport capacity.  When an airport is running near capacity, even ...
British Airways Baggage19 Aug 2004 15:54 GMT6
I'm flying BA London City to Edinburgh.  Standard BA baggage allowance
on UK flights is 1 piece cabin baggage, 1 piece hold.  However, the BA
website says some UK flights are on smaller planes, and it lists smaller
baggage allowances for these aircraft models.  Some of them do ...
What airport is this?  (Caribbean)19 Aug 2004 07:34 GMT2
I was going through an old passport and saw a receipt for Flamingo
Airport.   I flew to the Caribbean 4 times in the 80's and 90's.  I think
this was Bonaire, especially because the fee was NAF 10.  I suspect NAF is
Netherlands Antilles Franc, however, Nederlands used the Guilder.
