Does anybody know which of these airplanes; "Airbus Industrie A321" and "Embraer RJ145" provide higher safety? Which one has better quality of air in the cabin? Thanks for any help,

Driving past LAX today, I noticed the maintenance area, and there were 6 Quantas 747s sitting in a cluster. According to a book I have on all the major airlines, Quantas has 19 Jumbos. Can they really afford to have nearly a third of their fleet sitting on the ground?
