up-to-date government website with whats banned in carryon luggage?19 Aug 2006 00:50 GMT1
With so much uncertainty with air safety, I was wondering if there was
a government website that I can quickly scan before my trips thats
always up to date and tells me what is currently banned in carry-on
luggage? My biggest concern as they may at will decide to ban laptops
Why are award tickets treated like "charity"?19 Aug 2006 00:45 GMT13
I am taking a ff miles award trip on Cathay. I was just told that there
is no advance seat selection fot "this kind of ticket".
It bugs me that airlines behave as if ff miles tickets are free gifts.
After all, I earned all of those miles by purchasing some

UK Relaxes Carry-on Rules18 Aug 2006 20:24 GMT40
I see from the BBC that the carry-on rules have been relaxed for
departures from the UK.  Passengers can carry one small bag, and are
allowed to bring a laptop computer into the cabin.  They are also allowed
to bring some cosmetics, such as lipstick.
Is RyanAir the only ones who charge for checked baggage?18 Aug 2006 20:04 GMT9
simple question really, and yes I can check each airlines website, but is
RyanAir the only low cost airline who charges passengers for checked
baggage.
I know easyjet and bmibaby do not, but not sure of others.

Brits release "suspects"18 Aug 2006 17:15 GMT4
Typical once again the British police arrested people simply because
they are Muslim. The "supposed" terror plot which allowed Israel to
weasle out of it's failed attack against a group of unarmed Islamic
women and children.
UA LHR-IAD flight diverts to BOS after "passenger disturbance"18 Aug 2006 15:15 GMT58
Being reported on major media outlets.  Few details so far, but seems
that the flight was diverted to Logan, with fighter escort, after a
"confrontation between three passengers and crew members".
That the plane was diverted into Logan (which is as close to a major
TSA confiscating prescription liquids18 Aug 2006 14:53 GMT8
My eye doctor told me that his patients are having their prescription
liquids, eye drops in this case, confiscated regardless of whether they
have a pharmacy label matching the patient.  This is in clear violation
of written TSA policy, but that should not surprise anyone.

exterior, revealed something else indeed upon entry.... (at a pax load
factor of 95% or so)
10D or so was secured with yellow tape as "Inoperable".   The cabin's

Weird Qantas booking problem18 Aug 2006 13:02 GMT9
I've been farnarkling around on various flight bookings sites, including
straight Qantas, and have come up with an annoying routing problem.
My trip is from Canberra to a city in western USA. So that's usually

new hand baggage size rules18 Aug 2006 12:07 GMT39
So now we know ... for the moment, one piece of hand baggage of max
dimensions 45 x 35 x 16cm.  Anyone yet been able to observe whether
security staff have tape measures to hand?  Or is this just the basis
for backing up subjective judgements as to whether bags are acceptable
