Airline Frequent Flyer Programs30 Sep 2006 07:17 GMT7
I'm looking to find out what you think about the various frequent flyer
programs.  My miles are with Northwest Airlines, but since they filed
for BK, they stopped using Ontario, CA and so now I fly a lot on Delta
or Continental in order to capture the air miles.

You still can't get drinks you purchase at airport vendors up onto
airplanes.  I would think it's conspiracy by airlines so they can sell
you more food & drinks.

Can I take a container of Betty Crocker Chocolate Frosting?30 Sep 2006 02:06 GMT17
Before I get any wierd comments (hee hee) I'm asking if it's OK to
bring a container of Betty Crocker Chocolate Frosting/Icing in my carry
on luggage.
I'm making a treat for a room party (OK great this is sounding better

Utterly pointless, as far as I can see, from the perspective of the
business traveller.  What's the use in being able to take a roller bag
on board if I can't also take a laptop?  Yes, the laptop could go into
Air travel with a cold - any advice?30 Sep 2006 00:36 GMT12
I have heard that it is not always a good idea to travel by air when
you have a cold.
Unfortunately, I can't avoid a particular 2 hour trip.
Any general advice from anyone who has travelled with a cold?
Prepaid credit cards.29 Sep 2006 22:22 GMT1
So, maybe this is an absolutely assinine question.
But if you have a Visa PrePaid credit card -- can you use it to buy a
plane ticket?
It says I can use it ANYWHERE Visa is accepted.

...The guy who left a full plastic cup of tobacco juice/spit in the
front pocket of the seat I sat in Saturday, PHX-ORD on US Air.  I kept
smelling something nasty.  DH found it, ran it back to the trash and
washed his hands.  I kept gagging for the remainder of the flight.
Austrian (versus Lufthansa et al)29 Sep 2006 13:15 GMT2
Simplifying an earlier post: does Austrian Airlines have anything going for
it (be it old-school service, food, Strauss waltz channel etc.) over the
likes of Lufthansa or KLM on a US -> Vienna hop (I believe they offer a
Washington->Vienna service)?
Cheapest way to upgrade29 Sep 2006 07:27 GMT11
I'm working on getting a reservation to go from southern California
(ONT) to DCA in November.  It's a long flight and while I wouldn't do
this normally, I'm ready to spend extra for a little more comfort.  I'm
looking at taking UAL or AA (which seems a lot cheaper, if longer
Airline, credit cards without foreign transaction fees?28 Sep 2006 21:00 GMT3
I have a card from MBNA that gives me miles in Air Canada's Aeroplan
frequent flyer program.  I live in the US, but Toronto is the closest
international airport, so for the most part it's a good deal.
MBNA is in the process of merging into Bank of America, and they have
Aeroflot Vs Easyjet28 Sep 2006 20:15 GMT6
Don't ever moan about Easyjet.
Was a few years ago now when I travelled from Heathrow to Russia's
Sheremetyevo airport via British Airways.
That is where the luxury ended. After a drive south through Moscow I finally
retinal scan28 Sep 2006 14:51 GMT8
I saw a machine at Canadian customs with retinal scan.  Apparently you
can fill out some form and get pre checked.  After you're ok'ed, you
just get your retiinal scan by the machine and you're cleared through
customs.  A few times I was there, I haven't seen anyone using the

Fedex getting 90 Boeing 757-200's28 Sep 2006 00:56 GMT2
Fedex is upgrading their fleet of 727's to 757-200's.
They anticipate getting 90 of them, used ...
Any thoughts on what their sources will be?  My best
guess is that many of them will come from United ...
