My grandmother is getting worse in hospital. i had all my childhood
with her and really want to see her for the last time.
But it is really very urgent, i want to go back to SHANGHAI from

My daughter (age 12) would like to go to Japan. What would a reasonable
budget be for one woman and one 12-year-old for a 10-14 day trip, leaving
from SEA or YVR? We would be happy to stay in Hostelling International
hostels (or the equivalent).

I have read that cell phones and laptops are often confiscated upon
arrival at Yangon airport.  (They are supposedly returned to you on
departure.)  But what about PDAs?  Does anybody have experience trying
to bring a Palm Pilot or Pocket PC into the country?

For over 8 years, I lived and taught English in Asia. It was an easy
life, and I was able to save money as well as take time to travel. You
might want to try teaching English in Japan, South Korea, or Taiwan.
