My grandmother is getting worse in hospital. i had all my childhood
with her and really want to see her for the last time.
But it is really very urgent, i want to go back to SHANGHAI from
CHICAGO THIS WEEKEND !!! (late 7/31 or early 8/1)

I will be in Beijing and Shanghai for a week and I want to call back
to the US. What is the best way? Would it be cheaper to purchase phone
card in China or in the US?  What about those online pre-paid phone
cards? Are they reliable?  Where would be the best place to buy phone

I'm a musician going to Japan next month to perform at the Mt Fuji
Jazz Fest which is being held at the speedway. We are staying in
Tokyo, but I would like to go to the speedway a day early to check out
a different day at the festival. Can anyone tell me what my transport

There are very economical fares Mumbai Osaka which is approx USD 450/-
for a 3 month return ticket.  Is there a similar fare (either one way
or return ticket from Osaka to Mumbai?

My daughter (age 12) would like to go to Japan. What would a reasonable
budget be for one woman and one 12-year-old for a 10-14 day trip, leaving
from SEA or YVR? We would be happy to stay in Hostelling International
hostels (or the equivalent).

I have read that cell phones and laptops are often confiscated upon
arrival at Yangon airport.  (They are supposedly returned to you on
departure.)  But what about PDAs?  Does anybody have experience trying
to bring a Palm Pilot or Pocket PC into the country?

For over 8 years, I lived and taught English in Asia. It was an easy
life, and I was able to save money as well as take time to travel. You
might want to try teaching English in Japan, South Korea, or Taiwan.

I need info from someone familiar with the logistics of the Singapore
airport. I'll be flying in from Manado with lots of luggage late in the
afternoon and fly out again very early the next morning.

I plan to spend around 2 weeks in those two countries, and could someone

Denver-Takayama Sister City Committee is looking to put together a trip to
Japan as a fund raising effort. Trip would include 2-3 days in Takayama, of

It seems many people fly via LAX and use China Southern.
This seems a good way to go, to avoid changing planes in Hong Kong
using the Newark/Hong Kong/Guangzhou route.
Should we have any concerns using China Southern 777 for the 16 hour

We are intersted to visit some beautiful places in China with regard to
