Do you ppl buy travel insurance for short vacations ard the region?

I will be coming to Bangkok for two months .. I would like somewhere
inexpensive to stay -- something like a serviced apartment -- The "wish" list
is clean, A/C, pool, Jacuzzi, and close to transport.. I would prefer the Silom
area..  any help will be appreciated..

This is my first visit in this group.

We plan to travel to Malaysia later this year.  As flights from Europe
to Malaysia are more expensive than flights to Singapore, we will book
an open jaw flight from Europe to KUL and back from SIN to Europe.
On the last day of our journey we will drop the rental car at Johor

My brother-in-law, Jim, visited Vietnam a year ago and met a Vietnamese
partner.  He has now returned to England, UK, but since his return he found
out that his 'girlfriend' has a serious heart problem.  She is in and out of
hospital and relies on financial support from Jim.

A doctor or pharmacist will always (quite rightly) advise a programme
of malaria tablets for a visit anywhere in India. However, does this
in practise refer to rural areas? India is our last stop on an Asian
trip we have undertaken and our flight ticket is into and out of

We are heading to Phuket for our honeymoon in November this year and
unfortunately our desired accommodation has fallen through due to a last
minute block booking (we were looking at a pool villa at the Evason Resort).
We want a resort that has private villas, near or on a good ...

What is the recommended procedure ?
Would a Maestro ATM card be all you need (like in Thailand) ?

Can anyone point to some hotels along the new subway line in Bangkok?

I have a week or two to kill and have never been to Mynmar (I am in
Bangkok now). If you fly to Yangon do they still demand $300 to
exchange into FEC? Can you still easily bribe your way out of this?

Myself and a friend are heading over to Thailand and will arrive in
Bangkok on April 3rd.  We have read a few travel books now and are
still undecided on what would be best to do with our three weeks on
holiday.  The brief version so far goes something like this:

Does anyone in this newsgroup knows an economical way from Bangkok to
see both Phanom Rung, the nearby Prasat Muang Tam and ruins of Phimai,
the open-air museum using Korat as the base or where to stay in the
ruins towns?  Are there direct buses between these two ruins?
