Any direct flights (and how much do they cost) between these two towns ? And if not, how much do return flights HK-Shanghai and HK-Taipeh cost ? BTW, I guess an overland trip by train from HK to Shanghai would take two days, wouldn't it ?

Hello, I am planning a first time trip to Phuket in Nov. Is there any blatant scams or rip offs that I should be aware of? I realize the majority of the people are fine, but I have had some bad experiences in Bali, especially with taxis and money exchangers.

Should be according to my Chinese teacher, because Mandarin is taught in schools across China as the official language. I might travel from Yunnan to Hongkong - will I be able to communicate with people with Mandarin ?
