I just got back from Hanoi, and had a really good experience at the FORTUAN HOTEL, 68 Hang Bo St(In the Old Quarter). It was like, $10 a night; we stayed for 4 nights. The staff was extremely nice, and the place was pretty clean. But I think they may lock the gates around

Has anyone attempted to travel overland from india to thailand? I've been advised that going through the indian/burma or bangladesh/burma border is not possible. What about through nepal-tibet-china-vietnam, or is this going to cause alot of grief?
