I am thinking about having some dental work done in Thailand (or Malaysia), starting with tooth cleaning, repair of fillings, and maybe reproduction of a partial prothesis (which costs an arm and a leg in my part of the world) - any insights on dos and don'ts, costs etc?

We are going to the Philipines the week before christmas, and originally we had planned to spend this week on Boracay. Yesterday we recieved an offer from a friend's friend, where we could stay for free in her summer house in Batangas.

I am looking for a hotel in $100-$125 range with good/convenient location -- should be able to walk down to Cafe/Deli/Food Court for breakfast/luch/dinner. Close to mall/s would be good. Preferably, walking distance from a metro station.
