My wife and I are planning to visit Aus in 2008 for the RUGBY LEAGUE WORLD CUP (not that imitation thing). Yes it a long time off and the venues not yet known (but would suggest Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle).

Is there an expat Kiwi club/bar on the Gold Coast? ie somewhere where the rugby mad gather to scoff a few stubbies and watch super 12, tri-nations, test rugby, league, aussie rules etc. cheers

Could someone tell me whether I have to book all hotels along my way from Cairns to Brisbane or I could just drive into any city/town along my way and be able find decent hotel/motel the same day. We paln to drive from end of September till October 5th this year.

Kaikura is around 2 hours drive from Christchurch (south island of NZ). As far as I can gather it's a tourist/fishing place. It's on the shoreline.
