Myself and my girlfriend have three weeks (max), in which to travel from Cairns to Sydney - August 2005. I have never been to OZ before, and would really welcome some ideas and some "local" travel tips (Lonely Planet book exhausted!!).

I'm just wondering on a trip from UK to Oz is there much concern on someone taking a few radios AM/FM SW etc incl maybe one or 2 ham radio ie two way walkie talkie type handhelds. Obviously not to be used to transmit in flight but just to have with you is ok ?
