I´m planning a trip to Australia. Mainly I´ll be staying in Sidney. Does anyone know if it´s safe for tourists? Any bad experiences? Or are warnings just urban legends? I don´t want to come back 6 feet down-under.....

I'm moving to Perth in January and have provisionally bought a car from a work colleague to pick up when i get there. Its a 10 year old Honda Accord. He doesn't have a Road Worthy Certificate (RWC) although the car apparently runs well.
