Besides wondering which route to take from Melbourne to Sydney, I've
considered renting a car with a manual transmission.  Being Canadian,
getting used to the transposed driver's seat is one thing--should I
stay away from the additional variable of the stick-shift and use that

I am travelling to NZ in two weeks time and am having some difficulty in
