Best Underground System in Europe.31 Aug 2004 13:17 GMT112
My vote goes for Munich (I'm including the S-Bahn here also as in the centre
its mostly underground). Clean, safe efficient, good network, very good
value (Even better value if you don't buy a ticket, which judging by most of
the backpackers I spoke to, most didn't). Personally I ...
restaurants in Romania and in particular Bucharest31 Aug 2004 11:27 GMT7
Ok.  I guess I have two questions.
First, I'll be in Bucharest for a few days in about 2 weeks from now, I
was wondering if there are any restaurants you would recommend.
The other question refers to eating in restaurants in Romania in
train reservations - are we in the same sleeper?31 Aug 2004 10:41 GMT2
I bought some tickets from oebb.at and I just received it in the mail
today.  With the SparNight special price that was available, I
requested 2 tickets with a double reservation (or so I think) on train

Diabetics syringe disposal?31 Aug 2004 09:47 GMT3
In England a few years ago, we had trouble disposing of my travel mate's
 insulin syringes.
In the US, most major drug stores (pharmacies) will dispose of them if
your bring them in in a container they provide for such material. When I
Dublin to London + hotel question31 Aug 2004 09:11 GMT1
I'm traveling to Dublin, Ireland in May of 2005 and would like to take a
trip over to the UK as well. I was wondering, what would the "route plan" be
to travel from Dublin to London? I would like to use just ferries (to get to
the UK), rail or bus. No rental car, taxi, or airplane.
BayernTickets at Munich airport31 Aug 2004 07:55 GMT2
I assume there is a DB ticket office at Munich airport.  Can I buy
BayernTickets there?  Will the price be 15 or 22 euros?

Berlin Hotels - Any Recommendations?31 Aug 2004 04:20 GMT9
My wife and I will be in Berlin from 9/23 – 9/29 and have yet to make
lodging arrangements.  I would prefer to stay within the city, but
would consider a hotel in the outskirts as long as it is close to mass
transit and it is nice.
US Credit Card Forex fees31 Aug 2004 02:17 GMT9
I am from the US and will be living in the UK for at least the next 12
months. I read that the US credit card companies such as First USA and
Citibank now charge a 2-3% fee for all foreign currency transactions.
I also heard that Capital One doesn't charge a fee (except the
hitchhiking/faire-autostop/traempen30 Aug 2004 23:02 GMT10
Is hitchhiking safe in Europe? (I did do it once, and it seemed okay,
but mine was just one experience...)

Germany rail/Rhine Cruise possibility?30 Aug 2004 22:37 GMT5
I will be in Stuttgart and have 4 free days.  Do you think that this is a
plausible plan?

Wed. Rhine River cruise Koblenz--Rudesheim;  overnight
a few questions as I plan for Italy trip30 Aug 2004 21:01 GMT2
I am headed to Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice) in a couple of weeks and
had a few questions.
1.  What kind a tipping is customary for taxis, bell hops, tour guides
and restaurants?  Do I tip for all of these services and at what

Will I be treated better in France by

Palermo: in and out?30 Aug 2004 18:01 GMT6
Hi, I'm going to Sicily for two weeks in October.   I do not want to
drive in Palermo.  What I read in my guidebook sounds too daunting.
How does this sound:  fly in, take a taxi (or are there trains?) to
Palermo.  Stay two days, then back to the airport to hire a rental car?
