We're thinking of driving to Ghent (Gent) this weekend, but I don't know whether to look for a hotel/B&B in the centre, or on the outskirts. How bad is the traffic there on a Saturday afternoon. I'm not too bad at directions, but my wife can't read a map.

Rick Steves says to wash your socks out in the hotel sink at night. He even suggests that you bring a small squirt bottle of detergent along with you to keep costs down. I would like to buy some of these fast drying socks, Please advise me on

Herself and I are going to Madrid next month. All we have done about it so far is book flights. The other primary component of our trip is accommodation, and I went online to try to get a handle on things and I ended up very confused, in large part because I don't know Madrid.
