I am travelling to Italy in early May. I purchased an Eurail pass for travelling between cities.I read somewhere that ES star trains in Italy are not covered under this pass. Is it true?? I also read that, with Eurail pass you can get into ES star trains by paying some extra

We need to go from Beaune (near Dijon) to Livorno. The best I could do is an overnight train from Dijon to Milan, changing for the local along the beautiful coast to Livorno. Should be lovely - though too bad to take the Alps at night.
